I have had the privilege of working alongside Judy Assman-Neiser as she serves as the Governance Lead on the Kelowna Women in Business board. Judy was a great help right from the early inception of forming a family foundation honouring my late daughter, the Dakota Foundation. She had answers about governance and creating the protocol and policies behind a successful foundation, and has led us through Board transition, fundraising, marketing and communications, community engagement, as well as grant application and disbursement. I had the pleasure of working with Judy for a consultation on our non-profit's charitable initiatives, and I couldn't be more impressed with her professionalism and expertise. I wanted to do justice for Judy, in providing a statement that truly captured the intellectual that she is. How do you summarize one’s persona in a short narrative when a book is not sufficient? It is difficult to find the words that fully describe the passion, dedication, wisdom, imagination and courage Judy brings to her cause.

I was introduced to Judy in 2021 when exploring the prospects of a senior focused housing project that was largely outside of conventional. Not only was she receptive to meeting a total stranger but made time in her extremely busy schedule to do so. Her grace, insight and extremely polite demeaner made our introductory call seem as though we were old friends. Our conversations continued to inspire me to pursue my dream and apply a sense of intelligence inspired by Judy. She has showed tolerance for my wild ideas and always accommodated my requests for feedback and input. I know of no one else who possesses such a well-rounded portfolio and contributes so much in such an altruistic way.

It has been my honor to know Judy Neiser and to call her a friend despite our relationship being strictly professional. To answer the question: How do you summarize one’s persona in a short narrative when a book is not sufficient?
